Life is too short …

What a day to be blogging.  I went to bed inspired to write today – to get back into my groove.  I had no knowledge of anything that happened when I closed my eyes last night.  And then, I wake up to the news and there were two huge stories glaring at me.

And I realise now that it’s the day after the Saturday that I think most people would like to just go away.

George Zimmerman is free after taking the life of an unarmed 17-old kid he racially profiled.  He’s free – at that moment.  We’ll see what happens.

All I’ve heard is that George Zimmerman had the right to stand his ground.  What about Trayvon Martin? What about his RIGHT to stand his ground when he was being followed by someone that he didn’t know, at night – who was five times his size – what about Trayvon’s RIGHT TO STAND HIS GROUND?

That’s all I need to know to UNDERSTAND.  I’ve nothing more to say about it.

That’s all I’m saying.

And waking up to the news about Cory Monteith passing.  For people who don’t watch #GLEE – they, well – wouldn’t understand just how much each and every character on the show becomes a part of your life.  I’ve been told by friends all day, “You didn’t even know him.”  And I’ve been like, “Who didn’t know him?”

Do you really need to know someone face-to-face to know them and what they mean to you? We all struggle with demons – they’re intrinsically different for each of us and my hope is that Cory’s passing has nothing to do with the demons that have haunted him for the past year.  His life was back on track and with Lea Michele by his side – you just knew things could only become better and brighter.

For those of you who keep up with me – and thanks, by the way to those of you, for emailing and calling to check up on me – I’ve been going much better as of late.

I’ve been going to therapy and that is seemingly helping me deal with my losses of the past year.  I can say that I am happier now than I’ve been in a bit.

Of course, TNT must receive some credit … all of my summer shows are BACK!  Major Crimes, Rizzoli & Isles, Falling Skies, Perception and Franklin & Bash!

One of my friends said that Sharon Raydor (Major Crimes) had become more likeable and I simply pointed out that the character hadn’t really changed — she’s still the same as she was in The Closer, but Rusty has had an impact on her. 🙂

I’ve been very busy with work as of late – that’s kept me focused and out of  ‘trouble’! 🙂  So, I’m just enjoying my weekend and thinking about how fortunate I am … life is too short to not pursue your dreams and tell the people you love just how much you love them.

Here’s to what’s left of the weekend …

ordinary people can cook extraordinary meals…

Blake Jenner wins The Glee Project S2

Gleeks Anonymous (GA): Hi, my name is Bryce and I’m Gleek.  :::: Hi Bryce::::

So, I’m a Gleek. Yes, you heard it hear … I’m a Gleek.  I took a break from Glee for a bit because … well, it was too outrageous and I got sick of seeing it tweeted & tumblr-ed before I could catch up with it on TiVO.  So, I just walked away …

However, I came back … and I own way too many tracks from way too many Glee episodes.  And then, somehow I missed it, someone said, “Do you watch The Glee Project?”  :::cue the little tag phrase — “The Gleeeee Pro-ject” 🙂  And well, I started watching it — and well, got addicted!

I had this core group I wanted to see make it to the end … Michael, Blake, Nellie and yes, even Lily – even when she is annoying.  So, last night was the S2 Finale and only one of my favourites made it … Blake.  Everyone else knew last night that he won, but I found out tonight when I caught up with the finale via TiVO and I was excited for Blake to win!   So, so happy for Blake to win it and cannot wait to see him on his seven eps … it’ll be interesting to see how they incorporate him into the show!

I am sure some of you were (are) expecting to read my take on The Closer finale … I’m still mourning the fact that it’s over, but I do have thoughts that I’ll share really soon … I promise!

You don’t have to cook fancy or complicated masterpieces – just good food from fresh ingredients.

And today, would have been Julia Childs 100th birthday … I love catching all of her old cooking shows and her ever constant message that even ordinary people can cook extraordinary meals for themselves and the ones they love.  In particular, I rekindled my ‘love affair’ with her after the movie Julie & Julia … If you’ve not seen the movie — it’s worth renting — of course, if you want to learn how Julia Childs became Julia Childs.  Next to Paula Deen’s recipes, I love Julia Childs’ recipes the next! 🙂

This week has been really tiring, but I’m happy to be working with a new team … there’s been nothing but: click-click-click-click-click-click.  I miss the beautiful people I used to work with, but they’ve moved on and I’m nothing but happy for them!  The next two days are going to be extremely hectic as I try to have everything in place so that the ‘stress’ of preparing is done, over and finished.  So, shout-outs to my former team mates — Laura and Caroline and shout-outs to my new team mates … Jessica and Donna!  We’re going to have a blast! 🙂

And just in case you’ve not caught on … my journey to happiness is going quite well, thank you!  Learning how to deal with stress and not allowing it to dominate every aspect of my life has been the key to moving forward.  I am extremely pleased that I’ve not allowed a disappointment to just throw me into a tailspin — that’s a HUGE accomplishment for me! 🙂  I’m sure I’ll have a lot to say at weekend … so, stay tuned! 🙂  I hope everyone has a great rest of the week! 🙂

as if I didn’t know this from previous experience(s)…

Pollen. My worst enemy at the moment. Seriously.

Those of you who don’t have to deal with allergies … bee thankful. 🙂  Yes, I spelled it that way on purpose.  Everywhere I go – pollen is OUT OF CONTROL!  Of course, it would help if I were to stay on schedule and get my allergy shots every week, but my life pace is faster than a speed bullet train trying to break the world record … I allowed my allergies to get out of control and then – as if I didn’t know this from previous experience(s) – my sinuses decided they’d have a field day – pun intended!  At this point, I am starting to get well … my doctor called in some prescription drug reinforcements.  So, hopefully, within a few days, I’ll be back to being – me. 🙂

So, let me ramble a little bit about … the Real Housewives of NYC (RH0NYC) and the Real Housewives of New Jersey (RHoNJ).  Yes, I know some of you are saying – why do you watch those shows?  No, it’s not because I like drama – I despise it; however, it’s interesting to watch how things play out … For example, I weeble-wobled w/ Jill for a while because I just thought she was overreacting … but I think things are going to play out even further to show that Jill had EVERY RIGHT to be upset w/ the way Bethenny treated her … as for Alex – she’s a complete “I’ve been in the shadow, but now I need all the attention I can get” individual — lost all respect for her; as for Big-Eyed Psycho Ramona – I had her number last year — she’s an instigator and a complete freak; Kelly … the jury is still out on her – although her loyalty is something going for her right now; however, she doesn’t make sense sometimes when she talks; Luann – ahhh the Countess … I am on the fence with her … sometimes I like her and other times, I don’t.  I am definitely for Team Jill right now.

Now, crossing the bridge over to New Jersey … I called it last year – early on – about Danielle Staub – she’s a PSYCHO.  Who organises a luncheon to honour their daughter’s achievement and NOT have her daughter or friends there to celebrate with? Seriously.  That was the biggest self-pity party I’ve ever seen in my life … she’s certifiably a lunatic.  I know that Jacqueline is going to see the light … it won’t take Dina long to be like, “Uhmmm, she’s a lunatic” and well, Caroline never tolerated her for a minute.  If I knew Caroline, I know we’d be good friends — we’re very similar in nature in how we assess people.  There’s no judgement at the beginning — it’s merely taking inventory of someone and getting the vibe(s) about someone … the judgement only comes into play when the individual forces that hand.  Ahhhh, therapist talk! 🙂  This is going to be an interesting season w/ the girls!

Matt Smith is the new Doctor Who

As for other telly … Fringe – as always – kept me engaged, but now it’s off for a while … I’m getting used to the new Doctor Who on Doctor Who – let’s face it – there will NEVER be another Doctor Who like David Tennant – seriously.  As for Glee, I’d say it’s okay for now … the best episode since its return was The Power of Madonna (go figure) … Just waiting now for the summer premieres of The Closer and Leverage … also, Beautiful People is back as well in June!  It seems like I watch lots of tv; however, I don’t … just a select few shows!

And now, the sad news … my good friend Lee lost her mother this past week. 😦  My heart is so heavy right now.  And, Law & Order has been officially axed – after 20 years – from the NBC line-up.  I’m hoping TNT will pick them up!  We’re in the NBA playoffs … my beloved San Antonio Spurs didn’t make it — they were SWEPT by the boys from Phoenix — so now, I’m throwing my support behind the Orlando Magic — I think they can beat the Celtics in six. 🙂  My Seminoles are going great in baseball … ranked #9 and playing really well here at the end — I’m happy about that!  College football season is just 3.5 months away PEOPLE! I’ll be so glad when Saturdays become a day when I do nothing more than (1) travel to Tallahassee to see my ‘Noles play @ Doak Campbell Stadium | Bobby Bowden Field or (2) watch football ALL DAY LONG on the telly!

Well — nothing else to talk about … well, plenty, but I’d get really upset if I talked about the oil spill in the Gulf and how irresponsible BP and the Obama Administration have been w/ that entire situation … so, since I’m trying to reduce stress in my life and get well faster, I’ll just let you all decide how I feel about that entire situation!  Hope everyone has a great weekend!
