Lessons Learned

I will ALWAYS bleed Garnet & Gold!!!!!!  There were definitely lessons learned last night by FSU – hopefully.  The game was stressful for EVERYONE involved — from the sidelines to those in the stadium to those watching at home.  Of course the news — an hour before kickoff — that Christian Ponder wouldn’t play … with no real explanation did not go over well with anyone.  Of course, we got the information this morning from an ESPN report and I can say that I’m glad Christian didn’t play … nobody would want him to get an infection from the elbow issues he’s been having.  So, at least that call from Fisher was a good one …

Lesson #1 = FSU was in the ACC Championship because of the brilliant play of Maryland a week beforehand.  I felt that FSU was ready to be in the championship game because our losses to NC State and North Carolina were so close (and as we all know close only counts in horseshoes and hand grenades).  Did FSU deserve to be there … I can argue both sides of that and prolly win both.

Lesson #2 = FSU’s offensive line was incredible — EJ played a pretty well-balanced game; however, the play calling from the coaches really was not the best we’ve seen. Stick to what FSU does best and stop trying to outguess the other sideline.  In my mind, Jimbo Fisher and Mark Stoops are on probation — yes, FSU had a better year, but you have to play smart football and overall, our “O” or “D”  didn’t play smart consistently last night.  They didn’t have the focus … and I said they needed that to win the game.

Lesson #3 = FSU is on the road to recovery and moving back into the BCS Championship circle of contention — of course, our arch rivals in Florida and outside are saying this year was a fluke, but in reality it wasn’t.  I could care less if Miami (Duh U) or Florida (WhoF) are down or not — both of those teams played their hearts out against FSU and still got BEATDOWN.  Those beatdowns serve as notice that FSU is on their way back and those beatdowns give FSU a huge advantage/edge in the recruiting battle for players who have no “blood connections” to either of those programmes.

Lesson #4 = When it seems to be too good to be true … that is probably the case.  Exhibits:  A 9-3 regular season record; soundly defeating your two-instate rivals and beating your conference rivalry (Clemson) at home in a close one; showing signs that the football recession at FSU is almost over.  Point in Case:  It was too good to be true that FSU could win the ACC title without Christian Ponder.  I’m not taking anything away from EJ Manuel — he’s going to be an incredible force to be dealt with for the next few years for opposing teams; however, Christian would have done a better job last night – in my opinion – with moving the ball around to different receivers and causing VaTech to think about who to cover … FSU has had an incredible season and it’s not over yet!

Lesson #5 = IT’S GREAT TO BE A PART OF THE SEMINOLE NATION!  I’ve never been a bandwagon or fairweather FSU fan … I’ve stood with my team through the good, the bad and the ugly.  I think I have the right to share my views since I’ve stood by my team; however, people who only like or cheer for FSU when things are good — should keep their MOUTHS SHUT.  It’s like voting … if you voted, you can badmouth anyone you want (especially if you’ve learned that you WASTED your vote for the president during the 2008 election — yeah, I told everyone Hillary was a better choice — I digress, back to football); however, if you didn’t vote — SHUT UP.  You have NO right to complain if you didn’t vote … and likewise, if you are only a Seminole during the good times — you have no right to be ugly during the bad times! PERIOD.

And that’s all I have to say about that!

Now, on to the tasks at hand today … everyone enjoy your Sunday!

Time for the Big Hokie Beatdown!

It’s been a LONG five years, but FSU is headed in the right direction — a strong finish is needed and it all started with the beatdown of our obnoxious arch rival Florida 31-7 last weekend.  I don’t care how “down” a program is — you play your hearts out and never admit that you didn’t stand a chance.  Period.

So, tonight, here in Charlotte is the first big test (yes, another test this season!) … we play a Hokie team that started out roughly, but emerged from those early fires to enter this game.  Frank Beamer has acknowledged and told his team that FSU’s record is 9-3 by a total of 6 points — that’s the number of points FSU lost to NC State (4)  and North Carolina (2) … and that in the last 14 meetings between FSU and VaTech — FSU leads 13-1.  The single loss — Christian Ponder’s first game as the leader when Drew Weatherford suffered a concussion — and the Seminoles — leading early in the 4th Quarter suffered a bashing defeat, 40-21.

The Christian Ponder that was at that game isn’t the one showing up tonight in the 2010 ACC Championship game.  Christian has played all season – albeit one game – with nagging injuries dating back to the beatdown FSU took at the hands of Oklahoma — a game that, I believe, redefined FSU and this season.  Virginia Tech looks good on paper, but how do they look in their hearts and souls?  Do they believe they can beat FSU?  Do they believe they stand a chance?  That’s one thing FSU has right now … belief.  Especially after owning Florida last weekend after settling down — that’s the key for FSU tonight — settling down and then focusing.  When FSU does that … it’s going to be a long night for VaTech.

FSU is ready for the game tonight.  My friends and I are ready for the game tonight.  Are the Hokies ready for the game tonight?  Somehow, I believe that VaTech already knows how much FSU wants this game and it will play out like that on the field … GO SEMINOLES SCALP THE HOKIES! Gobble-Gobble!

Sidenotes … what a great week – it zipppppppppppppppppped by quickly; prayers for my family are greatly appreciated right now; I’m starting, finally, to get the Christmas spirit — I need to go buy a tree once things calm down (I’m using the FSU game tonight as a way to stay focused)!  I hope everyone has a great weekend! Hugs!

…demand my money back because you’re delusional.

Florida State 30 Maryland 16 - Christian Ponder alludes Maryland defenders and gains a first down on FSU's last touchdown drive.

Once again, Florida State took it to the end of a game — at least this time it was Maryland fighting to stay in the game.   These are growing pains … they are necessary, but I hate them and the stress it brings.  Of course, reading some boards today, I found this comment from a Gator fan posted on an article about the FSU win over Maryland … the background:  The Seminoles are ‘happy’ with their current 8-3 record:

What, exactly, is this Gator fan smoking?  I can guarantee you that it’s not legal.  Granted, the ACC hasn’t had the best year in football; however, to suggest that “If FSU doesn’t beat the Gators this year, they quite possibly never will” – Really?  gatorman2k1 step away from the pipe slowly.   As a Seminole, I’m happy with FSU’s record this season … 8-3, 6-2  is much better than our past records over the last few years and it’s sure a hell of a lot better than UF’s 6-4, 4-4 … I love the arrogance Gator fans still flout … UF doesn’t have Tebow …  UF doesn’t have a quarterback …   UF doesn’t have the team they had the past four years.  So, if FSU doesn’t beat UF this year, we’ll quite possibly never will beat UF again?  SERIOUSLY?  gatorman2k1: apparently you booked the year long acid trip.  A bit of advice, I’d cancel the remainder of that trip and demand my money back because you’re delusional.  Thank God I know some real Gator fans who understand the game of football and the rivalry who’ve not swallowed the hype pill.

I am much more relaxed since I know that I have the next week off … it helps to know that I’ll be somewhere that I love: NYC! 🙂   Of course, I’m not packed — not even close, but that’ll all happen by tonight … I’ve got some errands to run and some house chores to take care of — so, I better get myself to working now!  Hope everyone has a great week … I’ll try to post stuff whilst on holiday!

LOL. ROFL. ROFLMAO. 🙂  That’s so funny!!!  I wonder who that’s about?  I will confess that I do love only paying $1.89 for a large Vanilla Iced Coffee … at the who — it would definitely cost me $3.99 – so, yeah, my wallet definitely feels so much better when I don’t give that extra dollar and change + a tip ( yes, you SHOULD tip a good barista for a truly exceptional coffee drink — I used to be a barista and I took really good care of my loyal customers!) … I don’t drink coffee that much — I become way TOO ENERGIZED!

Okay, so I love my job … I truly, truly do; however, I am stressed out at the moment because I want need to say some things that need to be said, but I’m just holding myself back … I’m not perfect nor would I ever want to be perfect; however, I don’t feel like I tread on anyone’s territory and right now I feel like I should call out the Bryce Armed Forces to deal with the intruder(s), but no … I choose to remain quiet and pretend that things don’t bother me.  Yes, I’m venting, but I do NOT feel any better right now.  You see, being that I’m not perfect — it means that I hold things in and resentment grows to Defcon 5 status — what this means is that when I go off — there will, unfortunately, be casualties and prolly irreparable harm.  But, enough of that …

No place in the world that can compare!

The bigger and much better news is that I’m going to be back in NYC this coming Monday and I couldn’t be happier!  I will be there with family and friends … that means that I will be extremely happy in the crisp cool mornings … heading off to every single part of the City I can get to so that I can just breathe it all in … there are great places around the world; however, speaking from experience … there is NO PLACE like New York City!  I get all excited when I think about — so, I’ll have to stop typing about it here … there are other places I love as well — but I just have this huge emotional connection with the City … I think it has something to do with Carrie Bradshaw. 🙂

And let’s talk about Florida State’s nailbiter of a last-minute win over Clemson 16-13 … Dustin Hopkins nailed a 55-yarder with 3 ticks left to go!  That win was a really good win for our program who had lost the last two games in the last minute!  Now, we just need to handle our business against Maryland and Florida … and hope that one of the remaining three ACC teams that play NC State beats them and we’re on our way to Charlotte baby!

Okay, that’s it kids … ole TiVO is calling me … yes, I’ve some telly to catch up on!  Hope everyone’s week is going well …

Hugs,
